The 5 points of Yoga
Proper Exercise - Asana
The practice of asanas, or yoga postures, forms the foundation of a healthy yoga routine. These physical exercises not only enhance flexibility, strength, and balance but also stimulate the body's energy centers, promoting overall vitality. Asanas, when performed mindfully, contribute to the alignment of the body and the cultivation of a deeper mind-body connection.
Proper Breathing - Pranayama
Pranayama, the art of conscious breath control, is integral to yoga practice. Focused breathing techniques optimize oxygen intake, fostering improved respiratory function and heightened awareness. The mindful regulation of breath not only enhances physical endurance during asanas but also has profound calming effects on the nervous system, promoting mental clarity and emotional balance.
Proper Relaxation - Savasana
The significance of savasana, or the deep relaxation pose, cannot be overstated. This final resting posture allows the body and mind to assimilate the benefits of the preceding practice. It facilitates deep relaxation, reduces stress, and promotes a state of profound rest, contributing to overall mental and physical rejuvenation.
Proper Diet - Vegetarian
A mindful satvic diet is an integral aspect of the yogic lifestyle. Embracing a vegetarian diet aligns with the yogic principle of ahimsa, or non-harming. Plant-based nutrition not only supports physical health but also fosters a sense of compassion and mindfulness towards all living beings, promoting harmony within and beyond.
Meditation - Dhyana
Meditation also called the Raja Yoga works with 3 levels of mind, the subconscious, the conscious, and the super conscious. Yogis want to clear the subconscious(instincts and emotions), fully utilize the conscious(intelligent) and develop super conscious mind (intuition). This is developed through yoga and meditation practice.
